Nursing Assistant / Home Health Aide

The Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide program is designed to train students the relevant aspects of long term patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Completion of this program prepares graduates to sit for the Certified Nursing Assistant exam. Students will demonstrate their skill base in a 40-hour clinical practice. Upon completion of this program, graduates of this program will be prepared and possess the skills to seek entry level employment as Nursing Assistants or as Home Health Aides.

Nursing Assistant / Home Health Aide Job Outlook

As more and more baby-boomers reach retirement age and the older population continues to grow, so will the need for nursing assistants and  home health aide services.

Nursing Assistants have a 5% predicted job growth over the next decade according to BLS.gov. There is a high demand for these positions due to the nursing shortage across the country, and the slowly increasing popularity of these roles.

Home Health Aide is projected to grow as much as 25% within the next ten years according to BLS.gov. This means that, by entering our training and certification program, you’re putting yourself ahead of the competition and preparing to take advantage of new opportunities.

Our Nursing Assistant & Home Health Aide programs are designed to train our students to care for clients who have disabilities, cognitive impairments, and chronic illnesses. Our students also learn how to work with people recovering from surgery and older people who need assistance in their daily lives.

Nursing Assistant / Home Health Aide Work Environment

Through our training and certification program, our students become prepared to work for a certified home health, hospice agency, nursing and residential care facilities and in hospitals,  generally under the supervision of medical staff. Most of the work will take place in the clients’ homes, in group homes, day service programs, or hospitals. The daily requirements can include,

  • Work with nurses and other medical practitioners to help with patient care, cleanup, preparation, and other tasks around the hospital or medical facility that requires an extra pair of hands.
  • Assisting clients with their daily personal tasks, like bathing and dressing
  • Performing light housework
  • Shopping for groceries and preparing meals that meet your clients’ dietary needs
  • Organizing your client’s schedule and appointments
  • Providing basic health services, like administering prescription medication at certain times or checking vital signs
  • Arranging transportation for your client
