Learn by Doing in Our Nursing Simulation Lab

FVI’s nursing simulation and skills labs give students a place to practice clinical techniques in a controlled, supportive setting before they work with patients. Using realistic patient simulators and nursing equipment, students practice techniques, respond to patient-care scenarios, and strengthen clinical judgment before entering off-site clinical rotations.

Nursing labs are limited to no more than 12 students per instructor. These small lab groups allow students to ask questions, receive feedback, and practice with support from trained nursing faculty.

Apply concepts introduced in nursing courses

Practice skills through demonstration and repetition

Receive individualized coaching from faculty

Build confidence using nursing equipment

Develop communication and clinical decision-making skills

Prepare for the NCLEX Exam

Hands-on activities reinforce nursing concepts, safe-care principles, clinical judgment, and decision-making skills addressed throughout the curriculum and in NCLEX-RN preparation.

Completion of the ASN program does not guarantee licensure. RN licensure requires passing the NCLEX-RN and meeting applicable Florida Board of Nursing requirements.

How Lab Training Prepares You for Clinical Rotations

Clinical rotations give nursing students opportunities to apply their education while interacting with real patients at off-site healthcare partners. Lab training helps students prepare for those experiences by allowing them to practice skills first in a structured, safe environment.

The learning process builds progressively:

01

Classroom Instruction

Students receive instruction in nursing concepts, patient care, pharmacology, and clinical judgment.

02

Nursing Skills Lab

Students practice routine procedures, equipment use, communication, and documentation.

03

Simulation Scenarios

Students participate in patient-care scenarios that require assessment, prioritization, teamwork, and decision-making.

04

Clinical Rotations

Students apply their preparation during supervised experiences at off-site clinical partners.

Lab training does not replace clinical experience. It works alongside classroom instruction and clinical rotations as part of the ASN curriculum.
