To get the most financing for nursing school, we recommend you apply for as many of these grants as possible and remember to reapply each year.

1 – Hispanic Health Professional Student Scholarship

This is a nursing scholarship aimed to aid Hispanic healthcare professionals enrolled in post-secondary education that includes nursing school. The scholarship is offered by the National Hispanic Medical Association at New York University and amounts to $2,000 to $5,000. The award is given every year and goes to the nursing student who demonstrates leaderships skills, a consistent academic track record, and has maintained a successful academic career.

2 – National Association of Hispanic Nurses Scholarship

Students who are enrolled in a nursing degree program at the diploma, practical/vocational, associate’s, baccalaureate, or graduate degree level. This scholarship is the perfect supplemental financing for nursing school and is offered by the National Association of Hispanic Nurses. The award is $1,000.

3 – Foundation of the National Student Nurses’ Association Career Mobility Scholarship

Both current nurses and nursing students are eligible to apply for this scholarship. This nursing scholarship offered by the National Student Nurses’ Association is between $1,000 and $2,500.

4 – StraightForward Media Nursing School Scholarship

Like the name suggests, the StraightForward Media Nursing School Scholarship is pretty straight forward. The scholarship worth $500 is awarded every three months to students who are pursuing a postsecondary degree in nursing.

5 – Access to Better Learning and Education Grant Program (ABLE)

This scholarship is only available to Florida residents (applicants must have lived in Florida for at least one year) and first time undergraduate students who are seeking a degree in nursing. An award of $1,500 is given each month.

Lastly, consider the Florida Pell Grant. The Pell Grant is not a traditional scholarship like the five examples above, but it is a federal award of financial aide that is awarded to students who have not earned a bachelor’s degree. The Pell Grant is a $6,095 award that is given to many students all over the United States. To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled as a full-time student seeking 12 credit hours per semester.

Keep in mind that although the list above details some of the popular nursing school scholarships in Florida, there are more options available for veterans, children of veterans, as well as people of different races and ethnic backgrounds. Be sure to educate yourself and apply for as many scholarships as possible.
