The Associate of Science programs at FVI School of Nursing and Technology in Miramar and Miami, Florida are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), making it just one of a handful of nursing schools recognized as such in Miami-Dade/Broward Counties. We are very proud of this prestigious accomplishment. Being able to display the ACEN Accredited badge is an independent validation of the quality and success of our nursing program.
In addition to the ACEN accreditation, the FVI School of Nursing and Technology has been institutionally accredited by the Council on Occupational Education (COE) since November 03, 2010. It is licensed by the State of Florida, Commission for Independent Education (CIE).
The Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program curriculum includes classroom, lab simulation, and hands-on clinical training. Clinical experience is provided through direct care and interaction with patients in a clinical setting. Students are taught nursing skills and clinical judgment in a controlled environment using high-fidelity patient simulators. Students of our Miami nursing program or Miramar nursing program build confidence by practicing routine procedures in the skills lab and simulating crises in the simulation center.
FVI takes pride in our campuses, classrooms, and labs. We are set up for student success with up-to-date skills and simulation labs that mimic realistic hospital settings and provide resources for optimal learning. We have invested in equipment for labs where students can conduct hands-on practice and simulations.
Yes. After completing the ASN program at FVI, you’ll be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN, the national licensing exam required to become a registered nurse. Upon passing the exam, you can begin working as an RN in hospitals, clinics, or other healthcare settings. FVI provides strong preparation through clinical training and dedicated exam support. Learn more about our nursing school program success.
Both the ASN and BSN lead to RN licensure after passing the NCLEX-RN. The main differences are in program length and scope. An ASN in Florida can typically be completed in under two years and focuses on core nursing skills and clinical experience. A BSN takes around four years and includes more in-depth coursework in leadership, public health, and research. ASN programs offer a faster and more affordable path for students eager to start working in the field.
An ASN is a college degree that prepares students to become registered nurses (RNs), while an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) is a diploma-based program focused on basic patient care. RNs have a broader scope of practice, can work in more settings, and typically earn higher salaries than LPNs. For those looking to enter the profession quickly and advance over time, an ASN offers greater long-term opportunity.
Earning your ASN opens the door to a variety of RN roles in medical-surgical units, emergency departments, long-term care, and specialty areas like pediatrics or critical care. Many nurses with an ASN choose to continue their education later through RN-to-BSN or MSN programs. Among South Florida nursing schools, FVI stands out for preparing students to grow their careers both immediately after graduation and in the years ahead.
FVI offers rolling admissions with multiple start dates throughout the year, making it easy to begin when you’re ready. Our admissions team is here to walk you through every step—from application to enrollment. To apply, simply contact an FVI Admissions Specialist who will help determine your eligibility and guide you into the program that’s right for you.
