Learn more about the cost of tuition.
Yes. The Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), a respected national agency recognized for its rigorous standards. FVI School of Nursing and Technology is also institutionally accredited by the Council on Occupational Education (COE) and licensed by the State of Florida Commission for Independent Education (CIE).
Absolutely. In addition to classroom learning, students complete in-person skills labs and clinical rotations in real healthcare settings. Our program emphasizes hands-on practice using high-fidelity simulation mannequins and direct patient care, ensuring you’re prepared for the demands of a nursing role.
Yes. FVI has invested in modern, well-equipped simulation and skills labs that reflect real hospital and clinical environments. These labs provide a safe space to practice procedures, refine techniques, and build confidence before working with patients.
Graduates of the ASN program are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN, the national licensure exam required to become a Registered Nurse. Passing the NCLEX-RN is the final step toward earning your RN license and beginning work in a variety of healthcare settings.
Both degrees prepare you to take the NCLEX-RN and become a Registered Nurse. An ASN is typically completed in under two years and focuses on core clinical skills. A BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) takes about four years and includes additional coursework in leadership, research, and community health. ASN programs like FVI’s offer a faster, more affordable path to entering the workforce, with the option to pursue a BSN later.
An ASN is a college degree that prepares you to become a Registered Nurse (RN), while LPN programs lead to Licensed Practical Nurse roles focused on basic patient care. RNs have a broader scope of practice, greater earning potential, and more career mobility than LPNs. If you want more opportunities and responsibility, an ASN is the way to go.
With an ASN and RN license, you can pursue roles in hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, schools, home healthcare, and specialty units like pediatrics or critical care. Many nurses also choose to continue their education through RN-to-BSN programs or pursue a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
FVI offers rolling admissions with multiple start dates each year, making it easy to start on your schedule. Our Admissions Team is ready to walk you through every step of the process, from filling out the application to enrolling in the ASN program. An FVI Admissions Specialist can guide you through eligibility requirements and deciding which program is best for your needs and timeline.
While core ASN nursing instruction is delivered in English, select support services and staff may be available to assist Spanish-speaking students. Communication support may vary by campus and program.

These in-person experiences are essential for developing the practical skills and clinical judgment needed to succeed as a registered nurse.
Yes. To participate in the online components of the program, students must have reliable access to a laptop or desktop computer with internet. Smartphones and tablets are not compatible with course platforms like Canvas or CourseKey.
