Nursing Program

Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) Degree Program in 22 Months

Why is FVI a Premier Nursing School?

With its dedication to students and hiring partners, employers rave about our graduates and their impact on their communities. At FVI we see each student as an individual, not a number. Our team is focused on each student’s individual success. Our licensed grads are working as Registered Nurses in the community in facilities such as HCA Florida, Memorial Health Systems, and Baptist Health Systems

What Can I Expect?

The Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program was designed to progressively develop student knowledge, skills, and competencies as they advance through the degree plan. Nursing courses and general education courses have been developed to build on previous experiences and allow students to apply knowledge, skills, and competencies in a progressive and cumulative fashion.

Earning an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing typically takes 22 months of full-time study. The degree plan is a 72-credit program divided into six semesters, including general education requirements. Each semester is 15 weeks in length, including instruction and evaluation.

This allows students to begin their nursing careers quickly. The Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) curriculum offered in our approved nursing program has been designed to meet the Florida Board of Nursing requirements.

Highest 2022 NCLEX Passing Rate

FVI received a first-time pass rate of 90.9% in 2022, the highest first-time pass rate of ALL other accredited AD-RN programs in both Broward and Miami-Dade counties.

At FVI, our Nursing program’s curriculum was designed specifically to prepare students for the current NCLEX-RN exam as well as the NextGen NCLEX-RN (NGN). Students begin to prepare from the start of our program and are tested along the way. This process and program have proven to be successful, as shown by our NCLEX test results. We are extremely proud of our students, faculty, staff, and all of FVI for our ongoing efforts to provide the best experience and education for our students who entrust us with one of the most important decisions of their lives.

NCLEX-RN Preparation

Our accelerated nursing program curriculum was specifically developed to prepare our students for the NextGen NCLEX-RN (NGN). NCLEX review courses are available to nursing students and the exam prep starts at the beginning of the Associate of Science in Nursing program. A regular schedule of clinical judgment exercises and video tutorials test a student’s knowledge at every milestone within the program. When our students have completed the program and are ready to take the actual NCLEX-RN exam, it will feel like second nature, giving nursing graduates the best chance of passing on their first attempt!

FVI is Accredited

The Associate of Science programs at FVI School of Nursing and Technology, Miramar, Florida and Miami, Florida are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), making it just one of a handful of nursing schools recognized as such in Miami-Dade/Broward Counties. We are very proud of this prestigious accomplishment. Being able to display the ACEN Accredited badge is independent validation of the quality and success of our nursing program.

In addition to the ACEN accreditation, the FVI School of Nursing and Technology is institutionally accredited by the Council on Occupational Education (COE) since November 03, 2010, and is licensed by the State of Florida, Commission for Independent Education (CIE).

Clinical Experience

The Associate of Science in Nursing program curriculum includes classroom, lab simulation, and hands-on clinical training. Clinical experience is provided through direct care and interaction with patients in a clinical setting. Students are taught nursing skills and clinical judgment in a controlled environment using high fidelity manikin. Students of our Miami nursing program or Miramar nursing program build confidence by practicing routine procedures in the skills lab and simulating crisis situations in the simulation center.

Are FVI’s Labs and Facility Up to Date?

FVI takes pride in our campuses, classrooms, and labs. FVI is set up for student success with up-to-date simulation labs that mimic a  realistic  “hospital”  simulation, and resources for optimal learning. Investments have been made in equipment for labs where students are able to conduct hands-on practice and simulations.

Registered Nurse Job Outlook

Nurses are the unsung heroes in the healthcare field, providing and coordinating patient care, educating patients and the public on various health conditions, and providing advice and emotional support to patients and their families. Those who graduate from our accelerated nursing programs in Miami and Miramar will be prepared to fill this important role.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), registered nurse employment will grow for all occupations through 2031. This growth trend will occur for several factors, including an increased emphasis on preventative care; growing rates of chronic conditions, such as obesity and diabetes; and demand for healthcare services from the Baby Boomer population as they live longer and lead a more active lifestyle.

The largest employers for nurses will include hospitals, nursing/residential care facilities, as well as government and educational services at the state, local and private levels. According to BLS, the median pay for Registered Nurses is:

  • $77,600 — Median Pay
*Note: salary will vary by state
