Starting in January 2020, FVI School of Nursing and Technology’s School of Nursing will start offering a Practical Nursing program in the Miramar and Miami campuses. After launching a successful Associate Degree in Nursing program, we wanted to do more to meet the high demand for nursing courses. That’s why our nursing school in Florida is now offering a Diploma in Practical Nursing program.
This fast-paced 15-month course prepares graduates who will be eligible to sit for the Florida State License NCLEX-PN Exam. After they pass that exam, graduates become Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN). Our practical nursing course curriculum meets the Florida Board of Nursing requirements and prepares students to provide safe and effective care to patients.
At FVI School of Nursing, we want all our students to succeed in the classroom and out in the job market. Like with our other healthcare courses, financial aid and scholarship opportunities are available for those who want to enroll in our practical nursing program in Miramar and Miami. Apply today; there’s no waiting list!
What Students Can Expect Once They’ve Enrolled
The Practical Nursing (PN) Program offered at FVI School of Nursing is an innovative program that emphasizes a comprehensive curriculum and hands-on experience. This diploma program – designed to progressively develop student knowledge, skills, and competencies – starts with more theoretical coursework but quickly progresses to practical training.
Students learn how to provide all types of patients with effective care while gaining valuable clinical experience in two different settings. The first is our state-of-the-art simulation labs, where students learn nursing skills by working with high fidelity mannequins. The second is in one of the healthcare facilities FVI collaborates with. Students going through their final terms will go through clinical rotations to gain real-world experience working as an LPN.
Graduates of the program will be eligible to take the NCLEX-PN exam. The curriculum is specifically designed to prepare all PN students for the examination. As they work through the course, they will complete clinical judgment exercises, video tutorials, and practice tests to test their knowledge at regular intervals.
Once they’ve received a diploma from FVI School of Nursing, taking the NCLEX-PN exam will feel almost second nature. After passing this exam, graduates will obtain their license in practical nursing and can start applying for LPN positions in Florida. In less than 15 months, FVI graduates can start their careers as Licensed Practical Nurses.
