No, they are different roles with unique responsibilities and certification paths.

  • A CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant) is trained in both clinical and administrative tasks and typically works in outpatient and medical office settings.
  • A CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) provides hands-on patient care under the supervision of nursing staff, often in long-term care or hospital environments.
  • An RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) performs similar duties to a CCMA but is certified through a different credentialing organization.

If you’re pursuing medical assistant certification in Florida, it’s important to understand the distinctions between these credentials. CCMAs are a common pathway for students looking to work in fast-paced healthcare settings with a broad scope of responsibilities.

The program is hybrid. You’ll take online live classes and come to campus for essential, hands-on lab training. This format is designed to offer flexibility without sacrificing practical skills development.

Medical assistants can grow into various healthcare roles over time. Many go on to become office managers, medical billing specialists, or clinical supervisors. Others choose to further their education to become Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Registered Nurses (RNs), or even pursue other allied health careers.
