Through a medical assistant program or medical assistant school, you will learn about the medical side of the job as well as the administrative side. You will take courses in anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, patient care, patient procedures, and more.
You will also take courses in medical office procedures, records management, and the basics of medical insurance. Most medical assistant programs also have an externship, which will give you real job experience working as a medical assistant while you are finishing up your school.
