Dear FVI student:
On March 27, 2020, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) was signed into law. The CARES Act authorized the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund which provides emergency funding for students and institutions impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. On April 9, 2020, the US Secretary of Education announced that the student funding was being made available to institutions to award and disburse to students who have incurred expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus, including eligible expenses under the student’s Cost of Attendance, such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care.
In order for these emergency grants to be fairly and compliantly awarded, you (and all requesting students) that incurred eligible expenses related to the COVID-19 pandemic must provide the below information to the institution.
FVI School of Nursing and Technology intends to distribute these funds to students at FVI School of Nursing and Technology sometime during the month of May 2020. This money is intended to help you pay expenses related to your education that were caused by COVID 19. For example, because of COVID 19, you lost your job or someone who was helping you pay for your education lost his or her job; this would be an expense related to COVID 19. You may have many other expenses that you can no longer pay, which was caused by COVID 19.
The actual amount per student will depend on how many students are eligible to receive the funds. Please answer a few questions by checking off those items that apply to you.
Sincerely,
Eliezer Tabares
Director of Financial Aid
